Thinking of chopping off the cigarette lighter end and converting it to usb I know I can just buy a long cable but Id in DIY mode right now so has any of you done this would you consider it safe.
I use a plug in adapter to convert to USB. It has 2 USB ports and sticks out of the cig lighter by maybe 18 tops. If you didnt know it was an adapter you would think it was dual USB from the factory.

Since my original posting I found a simple 10 adapter that fits in the cigarette lighter at Batteries Plus. The adapter allows me to charge my IPhone battery while Im driving my 2006 SC 430 which does not have a USB Port. The answer is yes the PC sync USB cable is used both for the PC and the wall charger.
