My 95 outboard will run good for a while then die and wont.
Johnson outboard wont start after running. Jan 15 2008. I am experiencing a nerve racking problem on my 1998 90HP Johnson outboard. The issue only happens when I am on the lake I cant reproduce it at home.
After running the boat out to my fishing spot cut the motor off for 5-10 minutes the boat absolutely will not start unless I throttle it up a good bit. This is where you might need to call for experienced help. Check the timing to make sure its functioning fully.
The problem could be as simple as a broken bare wire or something shorted out. If the problem seems more serious take your motor to a licensed Johnson technician. OUTBOARD WONT START WHEN USING AN EXTERNAL GAS TANK.
If your outboard has an external gas tank there can be a number of problems between it and the motor. Do a quick visual inspection from the tank to the motor and then run your hand along the fuel hose. Many times the problem will be very apparent when you do this.

15hp Evinrude Wont stay running First you should check the tank inlet screen and the fuel pump screen. If they are fine disconnect the fuel line at the carb. Pump the bulb slowly until you get gas then pull the recoil several times and check to see it is pumping as it turns overPut some rags in the cowl before you start.
