Both say they work in ethanol fuel. Then he asked me what the difference was between regular and marine sta-bil.
Regular Sta-Bil the Marine brand is bunch cheaper than the regular brand it does not look like it based on the price but it takes 4 times the amount of regular Sta-Bil product to do what the Marine version will do.
Marine stabil vs regular stabil. Marine StaBil addresses the ethanol issueswhich can bite the boat owner faster than the car or weed whacker owner. I know that I only need 1 oz of Marine StaBil for 10 gallons of gas during season and that is cheap enough insurance for me. Stabil marine has 4 times the cleaner that reg.
Stabil does according to their literature. If you research it that cleaner would be Naphtha which sea foam also has. STA-BIL 360 Protection and STA-BIL 360 Marine both have the ability to keep fuel stabilized for at least 12 months.
However if you are looking to store beyond this time up to 24 months and are looking to protect your fuel system against ethanol-related issues you can always add STA-BIL Storage. Stabil 360 marine is designed to keep a barrier between the fuel surface and the air. It also will help with corrosion of the tank more so than sta bil.
I use it always no matter what time of year or whether two and four stoke. A note the two stroke oil can come out of. I cant speak about Sea-Foam or the marine Sta-Bil but I have use the regular Sta-Bil in my boat since 1997.
Every October on my last time to use my boat I make sure that the gas tank is topped off and I put the recommended amount of Sta-Bil in the gas tank. I then disconnect my gas line and let the motor run the gas out of the carbs. Use a high quality fuel stabilizer for winter lay up.
Red stabil is for long term storage blue is for regular use. I never worried much about how full my tank was but I believe a full tank would be preferred. Even says so on the Oregon State Marine Board website Thats it.
Seafoam and Stabil both have the basic ingedients of fuel stabilization. Both remove moisture which is the main cuplrit in tanks that sit for long periods. Get rid of the moisture and it helps keep fuel pure.
Naptha specific keeps chemicals of many types from changingdegrading over time thus stabilizing. Yes Stabil changed their product line up a year or so ago. Both the Marine360 and 360 Performance claim the protective vapor action while the Red does not.
Their sales information always has a few mysteries. Like you said the 360 Performance does not indicate 24 month protection at 2x rate like the other two. It doesnt matter how old you engines are or how many hours are on them.
This stuff has to do with treating the gas and its not the same as the regular Stabil. The marine version doesnt just stabilize the fuel it treats the ethanol within the fuel as well which regular Stabil wont do. Another popular name in fuel stabilizers is a product called Sea Foam.
This is a multipurpose fuel stabilizer and cleaner. This is a petroleum based product that offers you similar protection but with an added bonus of cleaning the internal components as it burns. The best part about this product is that it mixes with the fuel as.
At the Stabil web site the marine formula says it has more than 4 times the fuel system cleaner and 2 times the corrosion preventer than regular Stabil. The Marine formula is used at half the rate as the regular. Do the mathyou get more cleaner in the Marine formula but who knows about the stabilizing part.
Both say they work in ethanol fuel. I would guess one of the marine stabilizers may be better as there is more humidity to pick up in a marine environment. So a marine stabilizer should be made better.
If its not just sales hype. If you live in a region where your gasoline is unadulterated with ethanol sayMontana then regular Stabil works great. Stabil Marine has extra ability to neutralize the water that the ethanol attracts.
It help see more The reason Stabil Marine isnt just for marine engines is because of the ethanol in gasoline nowadays. If you live in a region where your gasoline is unadulterated with ethanol. Marine Grade Stabil has 4 times the fuel system cleaners and over double the amount of corrosion inhibitors as regular Stabil or other fuel stabilizers.
So even when your using your boat your in a wet environment constantly and you better believe it is freaking humid. I went to the parts store today to pick up some fuel stabilizer. I asked the guy if they had marine sta-bil and they did.
Then he asked me what the difference was between regular and marine sta-bil. I told him I had no idea But that it worked well on my motorcycle. I told him I would ask you.
I use Marine Stabil every time I add gas and use Seafoam every other tank or so and have never had a fuel related issue. Considering I used my boat 3-4 times a month it is probably overkill but I would rather be on the safe side. I dont know about the new 360 product.
I do know that sta-bil DOES keep fuel fresh for extended periods of time. A healthy engine starting up and running well at the beginning of the season after a long winter lay up is proof for me. Go with what you are comfortable with and follow the instructions.
Just a note about Marine Sta-Bil vs. Regular Sta-Bil the Marine brand is bunch cheaper than the regular brand it does not look like it based on the price but it takes 4 times the amount of regular Sta-Bil product to do what the Marine version will do. The Stabil 360 is being touted more as an ethanol treatment and stabilizer and have used the regular stuff for years over the Winter in the Vipers with no issues.
Any reason to switch or is this new variation anything more than just their basic stabilizer with something similar to. Sea Foam isnt a stabilizer. Sta-Bil is only worthwhile if you get the Marine type.
Otherwise pay dearly for marine gas. Its worth whatever it takes to get away from the. STABIL STA-BIL 360 Vapor Technology Marine Fuel Stabilizer.
STABIL Storage 16 oz. STABIL STA-BIL 360 Vapor Technology 32oz Marine Fuel Stabilizer. Is there a difference between marine gas and regular gas.
The only difference between on the water gas and station gas is the price.
