There was a couple of issues.

If after adjusting it it still has a great holeshot then it was running to rich. Please mark the amount of turns in to a closed seat and then back out and do the adjustment from there.

Took it back to my selling dealer and they say nothing is wrong with it. Dose anybody know what could be causing this. Is it a bad coil or faulty onoff switch.
I have a 20 hp 4 stroke Mercury 2010 outboard that had gas in it overwinter. It ran rough at both low and high idle and would not stay running. I cleaned the tank out replaced fuel line from tank to motor replaced gas replaced fuel filter and took off e carb and cleaned it out.

I took the carb off and cleaned it good but did not replace the gaskets everything looked good. I put it all together and now the carb is flooding and gas is coming out of the overflow while im trying to start it. I have a 2016 mercury 20 hp 4 stroke short shaft tiller steer.
The problem is when I run the motor for an extended time it is really hard to get it to shift. It feels like it is going to go into reverse when it finally comes out of forward. I run a lot of limb lines for catfish on a river so there is a lot of shifting done.

Sounds like the idle jet is blocked or the float in the carb is stuck. Which will cause all the problems you have described. The only way to cure this is to take the carb of the engine and remove the float chamber 4 screws then clean the idle jet and check the float is moving ok.
A tin of carb cleaner will also be useful. Air vent in fuel cap not open. Faulty emergency kill switch.
Some engines – not the pull-start kind – have a battery that starts it. If your engine has a battery make sure it is charged up before use. Verify the battery connections are clean – as corroded connections can keep a Mercury.
