They fuse the trailer running lights seperate from the trucks so if you have a bad connection or ground the connector out it will blow the trailer running light fuse but the truck will be fine. I even swapped my other trailer to the trailer.
I have turn and break lights until the point that I turn the head lights on.
No running lights on trailer. It can be quite frustrating when your trailers running lights are not functioning as it should. More so because if you get on the road without functioning lights you could be breaking a traffic law with the result being a massive fine. This is why you should take time to inspect your trailer to ensure that all the lights are working.
I have turn and break lights until the point that I turn the head lights on. Then there is no lights at all that work on the trailer. So the result is no running lights at all on the trailer side.
Only have tail lights for the trailer as long as the headlights are off on the truck. I checked the running light pin on the truck plug and I do show it is getting power to it. When you notice that your running lights have stopped working.
The first thing that should be checked is the 7-pin plug on your lights. This is because the plug is the main thing that connects all the lights and wirings to your trailer. If there is any problem with it then that might be why your lights have stopped working.
When all lights on a trailer work except for the running lights this often has to do with a grounding issue. If a ground wire on the vehicle or trailer is loose or attached at a rusty or painted surface it may be able to pass enough current for some lights but not others. Turn and brake lights do not remain on continuously like running lights do.
Turn the vehicle headlights on and use the circuit tester to test the pins on the connector at the back. If there is no power on the running light pin then there is a break or loose connection somewhere between the connector and where it terminates at the front of the vehicle that you will need to track down. The trucks running lights will work but the trailer wont if the fuse is blown.
They fuse the trailer running lights seperate from the trucks so if you have a bad connection or ground the connector out it will blow the trailer running light fuse but the truck will be fine. If you are having a problem with your brakes on your trailer not lighting up while youre running lights are on here is a simple solution on how to fix that. Next test the adapter.
This will tell you if there is a problem in the connector. If the problem is on the trailer then a short on the running circuit is likely the problem. A ground issue would typically only affect one or two lights not all of the running lights on the trailer.
But it is possible that it. While towing with my small trailer I noticed as it was getting dark the running lights were not operating. While turn signal and brake lights were functioning normally no matter what I did I could not get the running lights to operate.

The running for the trailer is seperate from the running on the truck. It is possible to have truck and no trailer and trailer with no truck. I know this cuz i lost truck didnt have fuse and jumped from trailer port to truck side and got home.
There is two relays 42 trailer park lamp relay and 55 trailer. No running light but signals and brakes worked fine. Issue was a blown 30A fuse on the Tow Tail circuit which was not obvious to find on the circuit map as the Tow fuses are a bit spread out in the fuse block.
I believe the reason the fuse blew was some corrosion I found in the wiring harness extension that is tucked into the tongue of the trailer. I no longer have running lights because of a direct short that I did find. I first checked my truck electrical center and all was fine with fuses.
I even swapped my other trailer to the trailer. Still no running lights. The trailer must have a popped fuse but I can find no such thing.
I do have directional lights just no running lights. Have no power for running lights at trailer plug. The T PARK fuse in the rear fuse-relay block supplies battery positive voltage to a separate park lamp circuit connected to the trailer wiring harness.
For trailer wiring separate turn signal circuits are connected through the GMSF to the trailer wiring harness. Joined Nov 2 2012. Discussion Starter 1 Jul 28 2014.
I have no running lights on trailer. Brand new trailer checked at dealer and trailer is fine. The turn signals break lights and power all work.
I have checked all fuses under hood all are fine. Checked plug end and wires before plug and they have no power. Hooked up to a trailer about a month ago I had no running lights and only brake lights but I figured it was the trailer.
Now Ive hooked on a new trailer and still the same problem. I have no blown fuses no lose wires and checked all the grounds. I put a voltage meter on the fuse and the 7 way.
Did you try the trick on youtube to connect the two contacts on the trailers 7-pin to turn on the lights on trailer. If it doesnt work you might have some loose connection or blown fuse on the running light circuit. If it does work the porblem would be the 7-pin socket or the wiring to the 7-pin socket on the truck.
