Hydraulic fluid doesnt evaporate so if you can hear the trim motor running but your outboard wont tilt up you likely have a leak. I get 12 volts until I attempt to use either of the trim switchs up or down causes the voltage to drop to zero.
My tilt and trim problem started out motor would come up but would not trim down i switched the relays and the motor would trim down but not up so i bought a new relay and replaced the one i thought was bad and trimmed down but not up swapped them and again would trim up but not down not making any sense to me any ideas to fix this problem.

I have become an expert on the subject in a very short timeby no choice of my ownnyway trace the two wires coming from the tilt trim motordisconnect them and jump the direct to power blue to positive -green to negetive to trim upthen green to positive and blue to negitive for downif that works then your trim motor is goodits either a relay or a switchez peezy. With the blue and green wire removed from the relay I get 128 volts and negative 128 volts when operating the switches but with the wires connected I was getting nothing. I do not think it is a switch problem as both switches do the same thing.
Also when hooking the trim motor up direct it will travel in both directions with no issues. The next week I dismount the unit from the bracket surprisingly easy put it in a vice remove the trim and tilt rods and caps fill with fresh fluid put it back together top off the reservoir all by the book but it is still slow like it has air in it somewhere.
