Yamaha pro v 150 reviews. I am looking at a 1994 1890 Lund Pro-V DLX with a 150 Yamaha outboard motor. Boat is in pretty good shape comes with trolling motor and older electronics. The price is 8750 I think this is a fair price but looking for some opinions from other fisherman.
I bought a boat that has a Yamaha Pro v 150 outboard. The listing of the boat When I first looked listed the motor as a 1988 with a new power head. The powerhead is new and the boat runs fine however I have checked the serial number through other web sites and question the accuracy of the listed model year.

Travis when my 93 was going out of warrenty I asked at the dealer I bought it at. The owner an service teck told me to not run premix in my motor the carbs are set up for pure gas the oil is injected behind the carbs. Yamaha Pro V 150 1990 Issue.
OkayI rebuilt the carbsinstalled a waterfuel seperating filterreplaced the fuel lines and primer bulbtested the fuel pumps. Still with the problem. Tonight I started the motor in the dark to check for spark jumpthere was none.
I started removing the spark plug wires one at a time with insulated. Both the regular Mercury 150 and 150 ProXS were designed to be low maintenance cost effective 150s and it shows. The ProXS has low water pickups and a reasonable but not ideal gear ratio.
A 185 would make this almost perfect for a 150 outboard. Number 2 is the Yamaha Vmax SHO 150. Well it gets plenty of love regular oil changes and all trips are run at about 4000 rpm.

Its simply a much better engine that the carb version. It starts instantly is quieter smoother is also maintaince free and I believe it gets better mileage than the carb version–but its difficult to tell because the boats are different. I do know about the yammi its all my uncle has ran since 1988even the yammi carb motors are pretty stingy on gas his 150 pro v was great the 175hpdi was awesomei am not sayong you arent right but my 150 intruder that came on my 96 295 pro was great on gasi fish with a fellow who has a 2003 520vx with an optimaxwell its on its 3rd power head and he has less than 100 hours totali doubt.

Bring your compression tester as this motor is like new. The Champion bass boat it was on was less fortunate. Boat is in need of more cosmetic work than I want to put into it.
